What is Barre with Britany?
Barre with Britany features classes inspired by elements of ballet, yoga, and Pilates. Each class focuses on low-impact, high-intensity movements designed to define and strengthen your body.
Brittany designed this program to provide women with the opportunity to boost muscular endurance, improve balance, increase range of motion and promote better posture.
Barre with Britany is a 12-week program that is suitable for any women of all fitness levels. The program consists of 3-4 resistance training classes per week, as well as 2 cardio (LISS) sessions and one rest day. Each class follows a list of short sequences predominantly 4 minutes each - but can range from 2-8 minutes to make up a 40-minute session.
All of the classes are full-body, however, each includes a different focus that will ensure each muscle group is fatigued using small targeted movements, high repetition, and light weights or resistance.
Barre with Britany is a program that’s approachable for all women, and pushes her mentally as much as it does physically!
Barre is inspired by ballet, but you don’t need to be a dancer to complete a workout!
What Equipment do I need to complete this program?
Barre with Britany can be completed in the comfort of your home or anywhere you have enough room to move!
You will need:
- Chair (Barre)
- Yoga Mat
- Dumbbells
- Resistance Band (Small Loop)
The barre is used as a prop to balance while performing isometrics exercises, however, can easily be replaced with a chair.
If you don’t have access to the equipment, what can you use instead?
Dumbbells- Two safe, heavy objects can be used, such as bags of food, water bottles, or other household items - get creative!
Resistance Band- You can omit the resistance band altogether or swap for a recovery tube as these two items are interchangeable.
When selecting alternatives, it is important to ensure that they are both safe and secure prior to commencing your workout.
You are welcome to omit equipment from your workout and simply use your own bodyweight to complete the exercises.
How do the workouts work?
Barre with Britany is a 12-week training program that is suitable for all fitness levels, with a focus on building core strength, flexibility, balance and body awareness through low-impact movements. This program focuses on low-impact, high-intensity movements designed to define and strengthen your body in 40 minutes or less!
What are the weekly goals?
In Barre Intro weeks 1-2 you will be provided with the following goals to work towards each week:
- 3 Resistance training sessions
- 2 Cardio Sessions ( LISS )
In weeks 1-10 your resistance goals will increase to:
- 4 Resistance training sessions
- 2 Cardio Sessions ( LISS )
- 2 Optional Express workouts
What do the classes involve?
Barre with Britany is follow-along video style program. All workouts are full-body but include a slightly different focus, for example, Full Body with Bridge, Full Body with Plank & Full body with Cardio. Each workout follows a list of 6-10 short sequences that can range between 2-8 minutes each to make up a 40-minute session.
Warm-ups and cool-downs are not relevant as they are already built into the workout and are unique to each session.
